One of the nicest experiences is to just sit with the alpacas and listen to them hum.
Most of our alpacas are surrenders or rescues. Sometimes one or two of those happen to surprise us with a cria.
We offer visits with the alpacas by appointment only.
Batts, Dryer Balls, Bird Nesting Balls & Catnip-Infused Cat Toy Balls from our alpacas that get sheared once a year and their fiber is processed right on the farm. We also send some fiber out to Battenkill Fibers Carding and Spinning Mill to turn into beautiful soft yarn.
Alpaca poop is known as Black Gold. It is a so called cold fertilizer. You do not need to compost it, but can put it directly on your plants. We offer it in teabags for small plants or in feedbags for your garden.
Fiber Processing
The most important day on an alpaca farm is shearing day!
After shearing we process some of our first, all of the second and third quality fiber directly here on the farm. The fiber gets skirted, tumbled, washed (several times) and dried.
After that we felt the core of our own Dryer Balls, Bird Nesting Balls and Catnip-Infused Cat Toy Balls.
Some of our first quality fiber is then picked and carded into batts to then be felted onto the cores.
The majority of our first quality fiber is being brought to Battenkill Fibers Carding and Spinning Mill. There it is tuned into our amazing 2ply DK and 3ply Aran yarn.
